ASTC National Report

Day 6

The Central Oklahoma Toy Dog Club were holding two days of Specialties. Today's judge was Jean Fournier. The winners were:

Winners Dog & Best Of Winners: Wafers Madison Avenue

Winners Bitch: Ying's The Simple Life

Best Of Breed & Group 2nd: Ch Hallmark's Jolei Jezebel

Best Opposite: Ch Ista's Superstition

The Central Oklahoma Toy Dog Specialties are well organized set of shows with several components which should be incorporated in all dog shows. First was the hospitality extended to all exhibitors and second was the large number of excellent breed presentations which ran all weekend. Each day there was a superb hospitality room with food and beverages...and if that was not enough they held a well attended dinner and dance on Saturday evening. For just $5.00 they provided a huge buffet of barbeque beef, roasted potatoes, veggies and salads. Dr. Roger Pritchard, Show Chairman, and his committee are to be highly congratulated for a job well done.

Day 7

Second day of the Central Oklahoma Toy Dog Club Specialty. Today's judge was Beverley Lehnig. The winners were:

Winners Dog : Symarun's Jazzie Dakota

Winners Bitch & Best Of Winners: Shantung's Chanel

Best Of Breed & Group 1st: Ch Hallmark's Jolei Jezebel

Best Opposite: Ch Ista's Superstition

After judging at the Toy Dog show we were of to Doug and Mandy's to test drive their motor home/truck/transport. Jody had ordered one also and she wanted to get behind the wheel and see how it handled. We all took turns seeing how it handled...Jody felt she would really enjoy driving her own when it arrived as she felt the 45 foot rig was not much different than driving her existing box truck and 33 foot travel trailer. We had a quick dinner of chicken wings and beer at a nearby Hooters and were off to bed early.

Day 8

Mandy's Shih Tzu, Julia was due to have puppies and we decided to stay an extra day and help her with her first litter. We spent the day lazing around and later went to cool off and lounge by the pool at the hotel in the afternoon. That evening we went to a Triple A baseball game to watch the local Oklahoma Redhawks as guests of Doug's bloodhound client and friends Chuck & Wendy Musgrove. Chuck works for the local television station KFOR News 4 and we had a great time in the 'private box' enjoying the upscale non traditional fare and VIP treatment...definitely not your 'hotdog and beer at the ball park' atmosphere. Unfortunately Julia did not have her puppies and we bid Doug and Mandy our farewells as we would be getting up early the next day and heading home with fond memories of an exciting week and looking forward to next years National in Frederick, Maryland on April 17-21, 2006

Trip Home

We were up early the next day and on the road to Louisville, KY where Jody lives to spend the next day with her. After an enjoyable day at Jody's we traveled up the road to spend an enjoyable evening at Susan And Hank Wueller's of Hansuti Shih Tzu in Auburn, IN....the final drive home was long and uneventful and we arrived late in the evening...pleased about yet another safe and exciting trip and glad to be in our own beds.
